Practical steps that might help
You deserve support. Here are some ideas that may help you look after yourself. Take or adapt what feels right for you.
• Think about what you need
It’s okay to do what feels right for you, even if others don’t understand. You can set boundaries and say no when you need to.
• Talk to someone you trust
Sharing how you feel can help lift some of the weight. A friend, neighbour, or family member may be able to support you.
• Plan ahead
If you know certain days or situations may be hard, think about what could help. This might be quiet time, a walk, or a calming activity.
• Stay connected
If you can’t meet in person, a phone or video call may help you feel less alone. Small moments of connection matter.
• Be kind to yourself
You do not have to be perfect. Keeping things simple and taking time for yourself are both okay.
• Look ahead
Planning something to look forward to after Christmas, meeting a friend, a local event, or a quiet day at home can help lift your mood.
