Customers at the Later Living scheme in Leamington Spa recently came together to host a coffee and cake morning in support of Guide Dogs UK, raising an impressive £360 for the sight loss charity.
Barrett moved into Queensway Court with his owner John after John’s sight worsened, and it didn’t take long for residents and colleagues to see just how life-changing a guide dog can be. Wanting to show their appreciation, residents organised the fundraiser themselves, creating a welcoming event filled with homemade treats, friendly conversation, and plenty of attention for Barrett, who was the star of the day.
Emma Williams, Scheme Manager, said: “We were absolutely delighted to support our customers in hosting this fundraiser. Barrett is a firm favourite with everyone here, and it’s heartwarming to see how he helps John live independently. We’re really proud of what our customers achieved for such a fantastic cause.”
John added: “Barrett helps me every single day, and I’m so grateful to everyone here for supporting this fundraiser. He loved all the attention! I’d also like to thank everyone for welcoming us both so warmly.”
The £360 raised will help Guide Dogs continue their vital work supporting people with sight loss to live actively, independently and well, a cause now especially close to the hearts of the Queensway Court community.
